Another weekend of pomp and ceremony is on the horizon as London gears up for the coronation of King Charles III. To mark the occasion, we’re also getting an extra bank holiday meaning there’ll be plenty of time to party over the three-day weekend: Saturday May 6 to Monday May 8.
You’ll no doubt notice London looking slightly different over this time. Union Jack bunting will start appearing around your neighbours’ houses and the bar of your local pub. Red, white and blue balloons will poke out from bushes and flower beds and people wearing corgi masks will start to appear on pub crawls.
If you’d rather ditch all of the regal tit-tat and purely relish in the fact we have an extra day off work, then we hear you. Here’s our guide to the best alternative events happening over the coronation weekend without a finger sandwich or a cardboard cut-out of Prince Harry in sight.
