Adornment and Identity: Jewellery and Costume from Oman

A display featuring silver objects of personal adornment and traditional costumes from Oman. Dating mostly from the 1950s, the objects on show include bracelets, anklets, necklaces, earrings, hair ornaments, kohl pots, men's accessories and weaponry. Much of the jewellery is decorated with coins, gold leaf, coral and glass beads, with several amuletic pieces incorporating elaborate Qur'an case pendants. The display also features embroidered costumes from different regions of Oman.
