Stoke Newington's non-denominational garden cemetery is celebrating its 180th birthday with a month-long virtual series of talks and tours. One of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian garden cemeteries in London, a local nature reserve and a woodland memorial park, Abney Park remains open but its cancelled birthday celebrations have moved online.
The virtual talks exploring the history of the cemetery opened on 20 May 1840, include a look into the park’s trees and ecology, a virtual dawn chorus and an audio walk exploring woodland magick.
Listen to the series now on Abney Park’s website.
