See candid and moving photographs of refugees newly arrived in Europe and explore their individual stories at this display of a selection of images from Giovanna del Sarto's 'A Polaroid for a Refugee'.
In 2015, Giovanna visited locations in Europe that have seen large numbers of refugee arrivals and took pictures of some of them on a Polaroid Land Camera. She says the aim of the images is to ‘reflect the inner strength and dignity maintained by refugees during their long and harrowing journeys’.
Since 2017, Giovanna began visiting some of the people she photographed who are now building new lives in Europe. Hear her speak about the project in a special late opening of the exhibition on Thur Jun 21. Part of Refugee Week 2018. Find out more on the Migration Museum website.
