We Didn’t Come to Hell for the Croissants

This eccentric show sees South African performer Jemma Kahn tell seven stories via the obscure Japanese artform of kamishibai or ‘paper play’. In it, Kahn both narrates and manipulates the hundreds of hand-painted illustrations that tell the show’s stories, which range from ‘orgiastic sex to death to cats with trust funds and everything in between’. Lindiwe Matshikiza directs.
