This intriguing project is the first fruits of new theatre company represent., which aims to give a platform to actors from a lower socio-economic background. ‘Trueman and the Arsonists’ is a new version of Swiss writer Max Frisch’s ‘Biedermann und die Brandstifter’ by the prolific playwright Simon Stephens, with songs by leftfield theatremaker Chris Thorpe. The satirical story concerns a city gripped by an outbreak of arson, and Trueman, an upstanding citizen who refuses to believe the polite pair of lodgers hoarding petrol in his spare room could possibly be connected. Abigail Graham directs.
