A hundred-odd years ago, gay rights were looking pretty bleak. Tom Jacobson's 'The Twentieth Century Way' is inspired by a time when the police department of Long Beach, California decided to use actors to trap gay men in public toilets and bathhouses.
Director Marylynne Anderson-Cooper presides over this revival of Jacobson's 2010 drama of clandestine gay life, which got strong reviews on its premiere Off-Broadway.
