Time Out says

Jez Butterworth followed his landmark 2009 play ‘Jerusalem’ with 2012’s eerie ‘The River’, a short, cryptic drama about a couple staying at a remote country cabin. In this country, it only ran at the Royal Court’s tiny Upstairs theatre, with demand such that you could only book for the evening’s show on the morning of the show. In other words, not very many people got to see it (though it had a higher profile Broadway transfer with Hugh Jackman starring). Anyway, long story short, it’s 12 years later and here’s your chance to see it again in a new production starring Paul McGann as the mysterious man who brings his new girlfriend to his family’s isolated cabin. James Haddrell directs a cast that’s rounded out by Kerri McLean and Amanda Ryan.
