Peter Whelan's drama pulls back the sheets on Shakespeare's private life, looking at the scandal that erupted after his daughter was accused of adultery. Shakespeare's family came under obsessive scrutiny from the close-knit Stratford-upon-Avon community, culminating in a public trial in Worcester Cathedral.
This play's rave-reviewed original production landed a West End transfer from its home at the RSC in Stratford. This revival will be directed by Royal & Derngate Artistic Director James Dacre, and set to an original score with Icelandic composer Valgeir Sigurðsson, who's worked with titanic talents including Bjork and Damon Albarn. The cast includes Emma Lowndes ('Downton Abbey', 'Jane Eyre'), Philip Correia ('Doctors', 'The History Boys') and Jonathan Guy Lewis ('Coronation Street', 'Soldier Soldier').
