The Old Vic is celebrating 70 years since the founding of the NHS by staging eight specially-commissioned monologues. They're curated by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Adrian Lester, who'll preside over a night of new works by big name playwrights including Moira Buffini, Lolita Chakrabarti, Seiriol Davies, Matilda Ibini, Courttia Newland, Meera Syal, Jack Thorne and Paul Unwin.
Each monologue will respond to a decade in the life of the NHS, exploring how Aneurin Bevan's project evolved from postwar dream to the present day's imperilled but much loved institution. 70 tickets to each performance are available to NHS workers at the lower price of £5, or £10 for Friday's double bill.
