Based on a true story about a nineteenth century Bavarian princess who believed she had swallowed a glass piano, this new play by New Yorker Alix Sobler sounds delicately bonkers. Princess Alexandria – played by Grace Molony – tiptoes through the palace, terrified that the piano will shatter inside her. Apparently “the glass delusion”, a recognised psychological condition, used to be quite common amongst the nobility. The show is directed by Max Key, and features music composed by Gabriel Prokofiev for – what else – the piano.
