The 1927 theatre company's blackly comic semi-animated show about feral children running havoc in a tenement block has become a seasonal fixture in London: it premiered at BAC in late 2010, moved to the Cottesloe last Christmas, transferred to the huge Lyttelton and now returns as summer approaches this year. If there's nothing summery about it per se, the gorgeous animations, lush otherworldliness and mischievous cross-generational humour go most of the way to explaining its success. We do hope 1927 find time to come up with a third show soon, but it's always a thrill to see 'The Animals and Children…'s surreal world blown up to the size of the Lyttelton stage.
