Gregory Evans' play is set in housing crisis-era London - not the present day, but 1986, when the Tory leader of Westminster Council attracted controversy for selling off social housing. He originally wrote it as a radio play in 2009. Now, new West London venue The Playground Theatre's boss Anthony Biggs is directed a stage production of 'Shirleymander', with Jessica Martin playing a corrupt local council leader.
