This drama from prolific Australian playwright and director Wendy Beckett – ie, not the painting nun – concerns the Greek poet Sappho, known for being history’s easliest documented lesbian (probably) but a mystery beyond that. The playful drama – set in the sixth century BC – is an ‘adult fairytale’ full of music and dance that sees Sappho decide whether to marry a man or follow her heart instead. Georgie Fellows stars as Sappho, with rising star Emmanuel Akwafo as the narrator. Beckett co-directs with Adam Fitzgerald.
