Othello

This new take on Shakespeare’s tragedy of race and jealousy comes with quite the twist: the role of Black general Othello’s treacherous white best friend Iago will be played by three actors. Why? Not sure! Presumably the intended effect is either to create a sort of small chorus or to actually turn Iago into multiple characters – the three actors playing the role (Michael C Fox, Orlando James and Jeremy Neumark Jones) are all white, so at least there’s not going to be any iffy toying with the racial angle. Martins Imhangbe – who plays boxer Will Mondrich in ‘Bridgerton’ – will star as Othello in Sinéad Rushe’s production.
