Kazuo Ishiguro’s classic 2005 sci-fi novel about an English boarding school that is more than it first appears has already been made into a memborable film starring Keira Knightley. It feels like a fine candidate for a stage adaptation – a distant relation to Caryl Churchill’s ‘A Number’ story-wise, it is a decided lo-fi brand of speculative fiction that doesn’t require distractingly fancy-ass on stage special effects. Erstwhile ‘Killing Eve’ showrunner Suzanne Heathcote adapts Ishiguro’s novel, in a world premiere directed by Rose boss Christopher Haydon.
