This almost impossibly high-concept immersive theatre show from Factory 42 and the Almeida is hard to entirely get a grasp on without actually seeing it, but the short version is that it’s a digitally-enhanced drama, which sees audience groups of six attempting to crack a mystery on the dark web. In fact, you’ll be at Hoxton Docks, but you will be traversing between a series of fantastical rooms: honestly, we’re not entirely sure what this will entail, or even if the rooms literally exist, but our best guess for now is that they do, but are pepped up with AR technology and the like. We’re promised ‘a haunted emporium of illegal goods’, a ‘magical room created from the pages of a journal’ and a ‘"deep time" distribution centre’. It sounds extremely cool and somewhat baffling, but Factory 42 have a fine record of high-profile projects (‘Hold the World with David Attenborough’ VR, ‘Painting the Future’ with the Royal Academy, and the immersive version of English National Ballet’s ‘Giselle’), while the Almeida is a fairly reliable barometer of hipness. Performances run through the day, from 4pm weekdays and 11am weekends.
