Opera Holland Park closes the season by dusting off another rarity from the repertoire, something for which the company is well known. Catalani's late nineteenth-century opera, featuring one of the great soprano recital arias ('Ebben? Ne andró Iontana'), tells the story of Wally and her forbidden love for her father's enemy. Martin Lloyd-Evans directs a cast including Gweneth-Ann Jeffers (Wally), Stephen Richardson (Stromminger), Heather Shipp (Afra), Alinka Kozari (Walter) and Adrian Dwyer (Hagenbach). Peter Robinson conducts the City of London Sinfonia. (Sung in Italian with English surtitles.)
