Four one-act plays from four playwrights from what was dubbed the 'Manchester School' of playwrights, who were championed by Annie Horniman, owner of the Gaiety Theatre in Manchester. Harold Brighouse, Stanley Houghton and Allan Monkhouse all have their short pieces staged by Anna Marsland at the Finborough theatre. Brighouse will be known for old classic 'Hobson's Choice' while there have been recent revivals in London of plays written by the other two.
