After the success of their mammoth staging of Elena Ferrante's novels earlier this year, Rose Theatre Kingston are producing another theatrical box set. Nick Dear's duo of plays follow legendary artist Hogarth as he boozes his way through 18th century London. The first, 'The Art of Success', initially premiered in 1986, when it landed rave reviews for its irreverent approach to an art history master on the cusp of celebrity. It's appearing alongside a brand new sequel, 'The Taste of the Town', which follows Hogarth 30 years later, as he grapples with fame and controversy. Anthony Banks directs.
Tickets to each play are available separately, or you can see both in one go on selected dates.
