The Globe’s writer-in-residence Hannah Khalil’s latest show for the theatre is a riff on the classic ‘One Thousand and One Nights’. Written in collaboration with Hanan al-Shaykh, Suhayla El-Bushra and Sara Shaarawi, ‘Hakawatis’ means ‘storytellers’, and is set deep into a tyrannical ruler’s length killing spree of his numerous wives. Now only five brides in waiting are left… can they talk their way out of this one? Pooja Ghai directs.
