Joseph Merrick was one of the Victorian era's most famous men. Born with facial deformity, the man who was nicknamed the Elephant Man inspired books, films and plays. The most famous of which, is probably the 1980 David Lynch film 'The Elephant Man'. This play is inspired by his film, and is performed by theatre company-cum-drama school Fourth Monkey. It tells of the man's short, brutal life.
