Directed by Ed Viney, 'Danger: Memory!' resurrects two late Arthur Miller plays, not seen in London for over twenty years. Arguably though, the obscure double-bill was better laid to rest.
The stark, Ibsenesque 'I Can't Remember Anything' homes in on two elderly companions. Although both actors deliver credible and heartfelt performances, it proves a struggle to colour in Miller's roughly sketched characters. They lack the complexity to warrant prolonged observation and the slow-chugging chit-chat amounts to very little. After a welcome interval, one sits up for 'Clara' – a smoother polished murder mystery. The fragility of human memory is a truly harrowing prospect, but both plays miss opportunities to convey this.
