Clemency

The world premiere of James MacMillan's short opera, written in collaboration with librettist Michael Symmons Roberts. A compact, contemporary interpretation of the biblical tale of Sarah and Abraham, who in old age are told that they are to have a new child. Starring Janis Kelly (Sarah) and Grant Doyle (Abraham), with Andrew Tortise, Eamonn Mulhall and Adam Green (Triplets). Clark Rundell conducts The Britten Sinfonia; the director is Katie Mitchell.
