Time Out says

Dennis Potter's controversial 1976 play is an unsparing look behind the twitching flowery curtains of a Middle England household. 'Brimstone and Treacle' was banned after its original production for BBC's Play For Today, for its grim themes of sexual abuse. Now, it's being revived by Hope Theatre boss Matthew Parker, after the success of previous revivals including 'Steel Magnolias' and 'Lovesong of the Electric Bear'.
