The Finborough continues its recent run of early twentieth-century rediscoveries with a first British revival in over 90 years for TC Murray’s 1910 Irish tragedy. ‘Birthright’ follows a fateful day in the life of Bat and Maura Morrissey, as they face up to the fact that tradition dictates that their idealistic, poetic elder son Hugh is expected to inherit the family farm, while dependable, hardworking youngest Shane is expected to seek his fortune in America – even though they’d clearly be vastly better suited to it being the other way around. Scott Hurran directs a cast of Rosie Armstrong, Peter Broderick, Thomas Fitzgerald and Pádraig Lynch.
