John Osborne's play tells the true story of the last man to stand trial for blasphemy in England. In 1842 Cheltenham, a poor young teacher's overwhelming commitment to the truth causes him to deliver a lecture with disastrous consequences.
This play was originally written for television, and was produced starring Richard Burton in 1960. This revival is directed by Jimmy Walters, and is the first staging of the play for 40 years.
