Mischief Theatre are best known for their Fringe megahit The Play That Goes Wrong, which has been entertaining them at the Duchess Theatre for a full decade now (and almost as long off-Broadway). There have been endless spin-offs, too. Aside from some dabblings with TV we’ve had Magic Goes Wrong, The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, The Comedy About Spies and more, including – notably – Peter Pan Goes Wrong. This last resurrected the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, the inept am dram theatre company nominally responsible for the chaotic Play That Goes Wrong.
Now we have Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, Mischief’s second Christmas show and third in what nobody is called Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society Expanded Universe. Let’s be honest, it’s not hard to guess what goes on in it: the CPDS will screw up a fresh play – Dickens’s seasonal classic – and you will doubtless split your sides. It’s written by original Mischief members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields.
