Fun runs rarely get more silly than this. Participants don hairy gorilla suits to take part in a seven-kilometre race around London's streets to draw attention to the need to protect the dwindling number of mountain gorillas that remain in the wild and raise funds for community projects that preserve endangered gorilla habitats. Registration is essential to take part (a gorilla suit is provided, which you get to keep), but spectators can line the 7km-route which takes in Tower Bridge and the South Bank. Runners need to register at 8.30am at the London Underwriting Centre off Mincing Lane in the City.
£80 registration fee inc gorilla suit (£50 if you took part last year); £400 sponsorship target
