A welcome addition to the picturesque shops of Columbia Road, World of Echo is a vinyl-only record shop named after an Arthur Russell song. If that sounds like heaven to you, then it probably will be: the range of new and secondhand records here spans jazz, experimental rock, new wave and synthpop and excursions into ambient and gothic, all of it impeccably curated and decently priced. Appearances and nifty performances by underground heroes are the icing on the cake – Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore even sold 300 records from his personal collection here in September 2019.
