The 94th Academy Awards ceremony gets underway on Sunday March 27 promising to unleash plenty of (healthy) debate about who should/shouldn’t scoop the awards. But whether you’re tuning in out of worship for Jane Campion or because you simply like checking out everyone’s fashion mishaps, you’ll want to make your Oscars viewing party the very best. We’ve put together a shortlist of the best gadgets to help you have a better time than you would even on the red carpet.

Nothing sadder than an evening dedicated to the big screen when you don’t have a big – or even a medium – screen to watch the event on. This clever, and pleasantly affordable, projector connects to a smart phone and turns your humble living room into a brilliant home cinema. The projector scores highly for its luminosity levels, meaning it’s also great for use outside. You might not want to do that with the Oscars but it’s something to think about when Wimbledon rolls around in a few months’ time.

If you’re tuning into the ceremony from the UK, your night is going to be starting at approximately 1am. That’s a pretty late hour to be getting a party started at, but you can make it easier for yourself with a rolling rotation of energy-boosting snacks. Plug in this stylish retro popcorn machine and make the universally recognised best cinema snack ever. You can flavour with whatever you please, but the nice thing about this baby is it doesn’t use butter or oil, so you can also congratulate yourself on preparing an entirely healthy snack (nobody’s seen the beer you’re holding in the other hand).

And if that late night still seems like something of an endurance test to you, make your own life a little bit easier with a relaxing neck and shoulder massage. You can voraciously argue over the merits of ‘King Richard’ while also feeling the week’s tension get pummelled away. Pass it around from friend-to-friend and, at the end of the night/morning, you’ll feel surprisingly refreshed and ready to drink the rest of that *slightly flat* champagne. (Or go out for eggs - that’s probably a better idea).
