In the vast majority of destinations in the western world, at least, the days of forking out a small fortune for a couple of nights in a cramped, characterless hotel room are over, thanks to a smart system that allows us to temporarily live in the shoes of a local – typically one with more money and nicer furniture than us. In short, we’re big fans. So much so that we’re tempted to take a little break in our own city.
