Walking into the Facade feels like entering a sort of a crystal hanging garden. Specialising in decorative antiques from 1890 to 1950, there is a definite emphasis on lighting. Its ceilings drip with chandeliers of all sizes – some supremely elegant, some coloured, tasselled and bordering on the kitsch. There are stacks of gilded and painted mirrors and the odd piece of furniture, including over-gilded chairs and a range of coffee tables. At the back of the shop there are weird and wonderful standard lamps – churchy plaster angels holding lights, bronze rose bushes with light bulbs in their blooms and mad pineapple wall sconces.
