With two shops in London – a two-storey space in Marylebone and this 700sq m flagship – Skandium fans are spoilt for choice. Most people know the store for its gorgeous ranges of home- and tableware, but there’s also classic furniture from manufacturers like Asplund, Artek, Fritz Hansen, Swedese and Knoll and even broader European wares from the likes of German design house Vitra and big names Cappellini and Cassina. Lighting comes courtesy of top names like Louis Poulsen, Secto and Le Klint. What makes Skandium special, however, is its commitment to excellence in contemporary design; Arne Jacobsen’s 1969 Vola mixer tap in 18 colours is stocked, as are vacuum cleaners, bird tables, hooks, phones, plus a range of coffee-table books on Scandinavian design, to ensure attention to detail across the home. Skandium has a concession in Selfridges. Branch also at 86 Marylebone High Street, W1U 4Q (7935 2077).
