Located in the basement of Peckham’s multi-purpose arts venue the Bussey Building, the spacious Rye Wax is thoughtfully stocked with a stellar selection of vinyl and CDs catering to hip, modern tastes. Leftfield dance and edgy electronic sounds are particularly well-represented, but you’ll also find various oddball treasures and some older offerings, covering anything from psych rock to soul.
Rye Wax also operates as far more than ‘just’ a record shop, functioning as a bar, Vietnamese street food café and gig/club space, with regular live bands, DJ sets and parties. Oh, and it’s also a barber shop once a month thanks to disco barber pop-up Rhythm Parlour. Staff are happy to search the catalogue and make recommendations if you need some musical inspiration.
