The House of Rush is a new upmarket flagship from the high street coiffeurs. So upmarket in fact, that the premises of this shiny beacon of beauty are slap bang in the middle of London’s Mayfair. At first glance you’d be forgiven for thinking that the House of Rush was modelled on the house of Liberace, as the flamboyant interior is very much designed to fit in with the glitzy décor of the postcode. But the combination of monochrome floor-tiling, gilded mirrors, back lit displays and chandeliers offer just the right amount of bling for when you’re feeling in the mood to indulge.
Service is seamless with staff communicating via Madonna-ish headsets in order to announce your arrival– more like stepping onto the red carpet than into a spa. The salon overlooks the buzz of Piccadilly, but for those wanting to get away from the hubbub, the beauty area, including Elemis and Rodial treatment rooms, remain separate from the snipping and the clipping. On exit, a quote from fashion maven Vivienne Westwood is printed on the wall reading ‘everything that gives pleasure is worth doing well’. It looks like the House of Rush have taken this maxim to heart.
