Tucked quite literally under the Westway overpass, Preen – the hip British label from Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi – brings imaginative takes to traditional silhouettes; it’s all about not trying too hard. Collections are characterised by urban, minimalist shapes and tame colour palettes cut with splashes of bombastic colour, such as cobalt blue, to stunning effect.
Other highlights include typical Preen cocoon-shaped jackets, billowy shirt-dresses, skirts with belts, slouchy trousers and hoodie knitwear. It was one of the first labels to produce a capsule collection for Topshop. Look out for a great range of bags and shoes, plus an accessories range, launched in spring 2009. Other London stockists include Selfridges, Harrods and Browns.
