Philip Treacy competes only with Stephen Jones for the title of London’s most fashionable milliner. Much-loved by the late, great fashion editor Isabella Blow, he established his first studio in the basement of her house on Elizabeth Street in 1991 and his petite shop has since become a Belgravia hotspot a few doors down. Known for his ornate, attention-grabbing creations that often don’t resemble a hat at all, designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Alexander McQueen have called on his services. Recent collections have featured leopard-print trilbys, logo-embroidered baseball caps for men, fantastically feathered fascinators and neon berets for women. Treacy also designed and art directed Grace Jones’s Hurricane tour in 2009.
