London Alternative Market is a monthly fetish shopping and kinky community event. Whatever your particular peccadillo - be it adult baby scenarios, bondage, medical play, cross dressing, or if you’re simply a curious newbie working out which way you’re wired – at LAM, you’ll never feel like the black sheep of the family.
An extremely friendly, down-to-earth affair, every outing of LAM features a variety of exhibitors – often small businesses run by kinsters who’ve identified a gap in the marvelously mucky fetish market and developed an innovative product or line to fill it. For example, on a recent visit we discovered a spanking paddle with removable magnetic layers, allowing you to change its weight and thus the degree of sting administered to your hanky-panky spankee’s bottom. There’s clothing and accessories on offer (including restored antique violet wands, used to impart stimulating electric shocks), plus two free workshops at each event; past tutorials have explored topics such as “S&M Without Props or Toys” and “What Is Subspace?” (apparently, it’s nothing to do with stars, nor black holes – although you can probably purchase something to thrust in and out of them at LAM).
There are draws and competitions to win freebies, and attendees are welcome to turn up wearing they feel comfortable in – whether that means denim, or dressing as a dog. A proportion of the entry fees are donated to kink-related charities, too, making this one of the most naughty but nice ways to shop in the capital.
