If you don’t know your Louis XVI from your Louis Philippe, the charming staff will guide you through some bedroom history. Don’t be put off by the rather cramped dimensions of the antique doubles; La Maison provides a seamless extension service. Single Louis XVI beds go for £500 and doubles from £700. Armoires start at £900 and bedside tables at £350. The shop also sells its own reproduction beds – expect to pay around £2,000 for a simple Louis XV-style double.
