Hortus

A garden design and maintenance business is run from this rather lovely village store. Hortus aims to sell unique designs from small producers that are not available on the high street. The stock changes seasonally and includes the shop’s own range of tools and accessories. Everything is functional first and beautiful second, and the owners personally test the tools before they’re put on sale. Trowels and secateurs from Burgon & Ball and Duchy, swings and containers made from recycled tyres, trug baskets, lamps, ceramics and glassware, picnicware and quality outdoor furniture, including hand-printed deckchairs, are stocked inside. In the fragrant garden at the rear you can buy a selection of roses, herbs, perennials and city-suitable shrubs, all well tended and healthy looking. Modern stone water features and bird-baths complete the look.
