Browsing the paints and palettes at this old-fashioned establishment is like stepping back in time. Founded in 1927, it is one of Chelsea’s longest-standing retailers, and the emphasis is on quality: you’ll find only the finest art supplies here. Expect a comprehensive selection of calligraphy tools and paper, along with print-making paraphernalia, graphic design gear and brushes of every size and specification. A picture-framing and mounting service is also available. Downstairs in the basement is a huge array of easels, as well as rolls of canvases and unprimed linens, a craft and modelling section and assorted portfolios.
