Given its petite size and off-centre location, this French-owned men and women’s boutique does surprisingly well. The reason being that the selection of goods – the interesting but not ostentatious end of streetwear – is well selected and the staff friendly and frank. On our last visit we were given a definite ‘no’ verdict on a T-shirt, surely not something that happens all too often. Menswear is particularly strong – look out for pieces by Baracuta, fine-knit sweaters by Modern Amusement and Pointer footwear. Women are catered for with pieces by Marimekko, Sessùn, Ben Sherman Women and Laura Lees. Bready & Honey’s sister store, the Store Rooms (43 Pitfield Street, N1 6DA, 7608 105, www.thestorerooms.com) is a timely idea: a crisply styled sale shop where all items are discounted 35-70%, all the time. The stock changes constantly, but past finds have included Penfield gilets or Sibin Linnebjerg’s 1960s-inspired cardigans.
