Don’t panic, but the clock is most certainly a-tickin’ towards the big day this year. And what’s that we hear? You haven’t even thought about your Christmas presents yet? We get it, we get it. But don’t bother with Oxford Circus. Say ‘no sir’ to Bezos.

Instead, what you need is an all-encompassing, perfectly curated gift from an independent business. A gift all made up for you, with all the trimmings. What you need, dear friends, is a hamper. And we’ve scoured through all that London and the surrounding areas has to offer to find the best hampers around, whether you’re counting your pennies or you’re going all out. Here are the absolute best hampers you should be buying in London right now. Thank us later.

Time Out’s best hampers for 2024

1. Ottolenghi’s Classic Christmas hamper

Nothing says Christmas more than a brimming basket absolutely stacked with spiced and sweet goodies from the mighty Ottolenghi stable. As well as the prerequisite panettone and Christmas cake, there’s hunks of chocolate, pistachio and sour cherry brittle, naughty little nougat, cranberry and oat cookies, lebkuchen amaretti, and shortbread snowflakes. If you like your festive season a little more savoury, then get stuck into chilli and coriander chutney, rosemary spiced nuts, preserved lemon and chilli olives, and spread it all over cheddar and pistachio biscuits. Majestic.

2. DELLI’s ‘Nice and Spice’ hamper

DELLI has been absolutely everywhere this year, and it’s now the go-to place for all things saucy and spicy. So what better gift than this flaming hot selection? This ‘Nice and Spice’ hamper is the whole shebang; chilli oil from our fave udon spot Koya, Kold’s vinegary hot pepper sauce, scotch bonnet jam from Sauce Shop, sriracha hot honey from Wilderbee, a hot BBQ rub from Field Blends and – potentially the most out-there inclusion – a spicy peanut butter from Harry’s. Trust us, it works, especially tossed through noodles. Send it to your spiciest pal for Christmas or give a little something to five of ’em (and keep at least one for yourself, obvs).

3. Panzer’s Deli’s Bueno Fest Hamper

Yes, we all know that at the very core of Christmas is the turkey dinner on the big day, but the nibbles that we all dip into on the regular on the run-up to December 25 are actually just as important – and who does those better than the Italians? In Panzer’s Deli’s ‘Buone Feste’ hamper, there’s a cracking little collection of snacks which include Piedmont hazelnuts, perfectly snappable cantuccini and of course, a pillowy pannetone, which your guests (or just you, we’re not judging) can wash down with a half-bottle of Pierre Mignon Brut Premier Cru Champagne, which is also included.

4. Top Cuvée’s Best Hamper on Earth

If you want to be very popular this Crimbo, go full Real Housewives of Clapton with Top Cuvée’s Christmas hamper. This bad boy has all the goodies; three natural wines (a red, a sparkling white and even a mulled - an actually good one), hot sauce, epinaler anchovy olives (better than perello, IOHO), a whitebox pocket negroni, truffle crisps (not torres, to switch things up), and the best Tony’s Chocoloney around - the honeycomb, almond and salted pretzel. Plus it all comes packaged up in a very cute Top Cuvée tote.

5. Made in Oldstead’s Yuletide grazing hamper

Think of Tommy Banks as a younger, more chiselled Santa Claus with a fondness for foraging. This year the head chef of The Black Swan is offering up a host of hampers from his north Yorkshire base, Oldstead. The Yuletide grazing hamper is the pick of the bunch, with a hearty pate de champagne pie and a honking selection of Yorkshire Dairy cheeses to go with mirabelle plum and fennel pollen membrillo, as well as dark chocolate & fermented barley fudge and sour cherry nougat, and, of course, some sturdy mince pies and Banks Brothers booze.

Price: £110

6. The Pickle House’s Bloody Mary box

Christmas leftovers stuffed into a baguette, a small bowl of pigs in blanket favoured crisps, and the best Bloody Mary you’ve ever tasted? There’s nothing better. And now you can package up that perfect experience as a little Christmas gift. The Pickle House’s box includes a spiced Bloody Mary mix, a huge pickle, mini tabasco, Malden salt and even some supposed hangover cure patch with milk thistle. We love to see it.

Looking for the perfect gift for your pasta-loving friend (i.e. all your friends)? Look no further than everyone's favourite pasta spot Lina Stores. Not only is this hamper Italian AF, but the packaging is pretty special too. They know what they're doing with those crisp blue stripes. Top tip: Order this hamper with the added bottled Negroni option.

8. The Tinned Fish Market’s Ibarra Box

Look, hampers ain’t all cheese and biscuits, you hear? Why not get something your other half will genuinely like? (Unless they’re some sort of weakling). There’s no better way to round of this year of tinned fish obsession than with this spicy tinned fish gift box from The Tinned Fish Market, featuring everything from sardines and spicy pickles to those mussels you keep seeing that lady eat on TikTok, all in truly beautiful packaging. Dare to be different this year (along with everybody else).

9. Moth Drinks’ Cocktail Cracker Box

We know, we know, this isn’t exactly a hamper in the traditional sense. It’s actually a box of six ready-mixed cocktails, from the guys over at Moth Drinks. But look at them, they’re stuffed inside Christmas crackers! And they have all your favourites, from a marg to an espresso martini. If you’ve got a £30 Secret Santa limit (or looking for six ace stocking fillers), this is the Christmas gift for your bestie. Or… yourself?
