Ben Southgate spent over a decade as a furniture restorer before opening this stylish grown-up boys’ paradise among the blooms of Columbia Road. Stock includes vintage board games from around £30, the kind of 1950s football tables you see in French bars and cafés, clubby 1930s and ’40s leather armchairs, enamel lampshades and polished medical cabinets (around £1,250).
Prices are reasonable; huge 1940s eight-drawer plan chests sell for around £600. As well as restoring the items he sells, Southgate will take on a range of private restoration commissions, including French polishing, upholstery, cane repairs and desk leathering.
