Yune is a Chinese restaurant with a Malaysian-Thai twist, and one that has made a good local name for itself by serving affordable and reliably delicious food. The £14.90 set buffet is a great bargain, and offers diners an excellent snapshot of the restaurant’s many strengths: choices might include salmon with ginger and spring onion, delicious crispy aromatic duck, or Sichuan chilli char siu (roast pork), and each dish is cooked from fresh ingredients by head chef Mr Lap, who formerly oversaw the kitchen of the New World restaurant in Chinatown for more than 20 years. The atmosphere at Yune could certainly be improved – the dining area is stark and uninviting – but with food this good and so reasonably priced, why worry?
