Erected on the site of the Queen's former childhood home – which was blitzed during World War II – Wellington Lounge specialises in a right royal afternoon tea.
There are two options to choose from: guiltless afternoon tea and royal tea. The former is free from refined sugar and heavy on nutrients, including pistachio and Greek yoghurt trifle cake, wholemeal scones with crème fraîche and winter berry compote, and seasonal vegetable sarnies. The latter features British classics, such as coronation chicken sandwiches, sultana and buttermilk scones, and something dubbed ‘The Queen’s Hat’, which is a vanilla sponge soaked in Pimm’s.
Wellington Lounge can cater to many dietary requirements if you inform them before booking. Teas start from £32 per head and are served 1-5pm daily.
