An informal restaurant and home interiors shop on Totteridge Lane, The Waiting Room gets its name from its location – just down from Totteridge & Whetstone station. It doesn't look like a bad place to spend some time before the train arrives.
It's run by a mother and daughter duo. They've put together an all-day food menu ranging from eggs on toast and American pancakes to a three cheese souffle omelette, club sandwiches, a spiralized superfood salad and scones served with clotted cream and jam. High tea also features, as does Purbeck ice cream - it's gluten-free and egg-free.
And to shop? There's a range of furniture and interior furnishings, from brand new to antique. They describe it a 'French country feel', which sounds about right to us.
