This tapas joint and bar brings a bit of Spanish life to Dalston. And whilst perching up at a window pew to look out at Stoke Newington Road might not exactly be Calle Navas, there's plenty of authenticity to the food.
Dishes range from patatas bravas, huevos rotos, platters of iberico jamon and plates of Spanish cheese to gambas al pil-pil, red peppers stuffed with cod and served with piquillo sauce and pulpo a la gallega - Galicia's signature dish of octopus with paprika, olive oil and rock salt. Various paella feature, too.
Cocktails are prominent on a drinks list with more than a few nods to Spain. House creations such as the santiago (bourbon, cranberry juice, cucumber, grapefruit juice and lemonade) and the tequila mockingbird (amaretto, tequila, pineapple juice, lemonade and lemon juice) are alongside mojitos, mahattans, martinis and margaritas. Sangria is available too, as well as kalimotxo - a Spanish favourite of red wine mixed with cola.
