What is it with London and converted laundries? Between this place and Westerns Laundry over in Highbury, we’re really in a spin. Still, you can’t fault the execution of each. All-day Brixton bistro the Laundry offers top-quality brunch classics, a wine shop that’s more than a cut above and seriously hearty Sunday roasts. None of this is in any way revolutionary, but the restaurant’s USP is that it’s absolutely massive. You could definitely hang a weekly wash in here – or, bring all your mates and order the perfectly tender bavette steak with big, fat glistening fries and a hefty dollop of Café de Paris butter. Be warned: the portions are in direct proportion to the size of the venue – that is: generous.
What’s nearby?
You’re about a minute away from Brixton Village – ideal if you’re after records, books, knick-knacks for the house, another drink or… pretty much anything.
Time Out tip
That steak bavette is also available as a takeaway sarnie, so you could grab one to demolish while you pop on a wash at the actual laundrette round the corner.
